summer is coming

Summer is finally coming!

I wonder what this summer will bring? I took this picture last summer at a wonderful rose garden in Oregon.  There were sooo many different varieties of roses, I spent the whole time taking picture after picture and sticking my nose in to each different rose.

Although it is the only the first week in May, in our little part of the world it was a glorious day.  Hard to believe that less than a week ago it was snowing!  I worked for most of the day and then walked home enjoying the sun and lack of wind, finally!

Even the lure of fabrics and collage or just messing around in my studio couldn't tempt me inside.  Instead, I picked up the shears and tackled some badly needed pruning on my two apple trees.  Although we discovered the loss of 3 fully grown butterfly bushes to the freezing temperatures this last winter, even that couldn't dampen my spirit.

There is just nothing like the first day of beautiful weather sun shining, barely a breeze day after a long winter.

So, I got a tall glass of cold water, put my little bird in her outdoor cage, and picked up a new book to read and headed outdoors to our back porch.

It is "Art at the Speed of Life".
by Pam Carriker

GREAT Book!
Already I am reinspired to go to my studio, and just make art.  It is full of great images and inspiration, lots to look at, but also lots to read.  Just a few pages in and I wanted to stop, digest and try some of her ideas.   I look forward to another evening on my back porch, relaxing and reading, listening to the birds, before heading inside to make something!
